Occasionally, it’s about the counselors forming relationships, which is what happened when Erik used his persuasion to secure a lifeguard position for a young woman who had recently visited her friend at the camp. Erik and Ellen continued to see one another and after three and a half years of dating and 17 years of marriage they have definitively shattered the myth that long distance relationships don’t work.

After a cautious start, this couple from California and the United Kingdom were married two years to the day after they met. They are living proof that long distance relationships do work.⁠

This is a case of love at first bite. Carol invited Dave to her friend’s party when they were 19 and offered him some chips or crisps as they say in the UK and the rest is history. A formal proposal was not made as “it was inevitable” after 5 years of dating. However, Carol’s dad was asked and approved of the engagement. ⁠

Sometimes a connection with another person is like an electrical current coursing through your body. It seemed that way for Susan and Josh who met in a bar and knew instantly that they needed to know each other further. Thanks to Susan’s bravery in handing Josh her business card on her way out, they have been together almost ever since. So take a chance ladies!

MARTHA AND PHIL

Martha’s and Phil ‘s relationship of over 44 years all started at the boys and girls Catholic schools and even endured a sticky situation. However, they didn’t want to be a high school sweetheart cliché so they went their separate ways; the universe had different plans. They continued to reconnect—appearing in each others’ lives and after five and a half years of dating, Martha agreed to marry him despite getting pots and pans for Christmas.

JONATHAN AND KAREN

Jonathan and Karen, having crossed each others’ paths a few years earlier, finally met on a blind date. Karen knew very early on that Jonathan was the one and went so far as to ask both parents for a wedding guest list in anticipation of a proposal that didn’t come for several months. It was the worth wait and their similar backgrounds, interests, and commitment continues to strengthen the love that they share.

MOLLY AND FINLAY

Currently Dating

Molly and Finlay have been officially dating for a year and half after starting out as work colleagues.  A brief break up helped them learn the importance of being yourself in a relationship and not just conforming to what you think the other persons wants.  They are currently doing long distance for a couple months and have found the key to time apart is open communication, FaceTime and being true to themselves.

NADIA AND DAMIAN

Nadia, after a few drinks made out with Damian’s good friend. However, in the end turns out that was just the alcohol speaking. Her true love was Damian who she thought she would set up with her sister. Even when you love your sister, you can’t give her everything—Nadia decided to keep the best for herself and after a long distance romance and a few moves, they will be married this summer.

It was with great hesitation that both Ed and Dar agreed to go with a friend on a weekend boat trip where they would be “forced” to meet each other.  However, as fate would have it, they would find an instant connection and by the end of the weekend had decided they would marry.  Sometimes, when you least expect it and you’re thinking the worst of a situation, things turn out to be exactly what you wanted.
